The Deal
If you are planning on having a vacation in Asia, currently Singapore Airlines has a good fare sale between New York (JFK) and Singapore (SIN) with a brief transit in Frankfurt (FRA). You can fly this route round trip in Premium Economy for $990.
Fare: From $990s to Low $1000s
Cabin: Premium Economy
Airlines: Singapore Airlines (Star Alliance)
Dates: First half of 2020, Mid Week Departure
Alternatively, you can fly a direct flight from Newark (EWR) to Singapore (SIN) for $1090. This flight is the world’s longest flight, clocking 9534 miles each way. Flight time is around 18.5 hours depending on direction.

When I searched on Google Flights, it looks like the fare is available beyond Singapore. You can fly from New York (JFK) or Newark (EWR) to Bali (DPS), Bangkok (BKK), and Phuket (HKT) at $1090. Other destinations in Asia are also available in the low $1100s – these include Jakarta (CGK), Manila (MNL), Kuala Lumpur (KUL), Cebu City (CEB).

How to Find
You can search on Google Flights. Just enter the Origin JFK and EWR, and destination SIN, DPS, BKK, HKT. You should be able to see options. The fare seems to be available midweek from Tuesday to Thursday departure.
From what I can see, the fare is available in the first half of 2020, including Memorial Day Weekend Holiday. So if you are planning to go to Asia next year, this is a good opportunity.

How to Book
You can book it directly on the Singapore Airlines website. Just find the itinerary on Google Flights that works for you, and click the link. It should redirect you to the Singapore Airlines website. Make sure to double-check the dates before booking.

Where to Credit
These tickets book into (R) fare class. On the most frequent flyer program, you will earn at least 100% of the base miles before factoring class of service and elite bonus. You can check the complete list here. But based on our valuation, it may not be a bad idea if you credit it to Alaska Mileage Plan as it is a valuable currency. I will create a separate post on this.
Thoughts and Suggestions
This is a great fare between the East Coast and Asia. Usually, the premium economy fares cost twice as much. If you have been wanting to visit Asian countries, this is a good opportunity. Flying to Asia in coach can be very rough. I’d say this is a good deal considering this fare is marginally more expensive.
The deal was available at the time of writing and may expire at any time.
