Hello from São Paulo!
What a week! I had a busy Friday at work and I’m so glad the weekend is finally here! So this trip was unplanned. I didn’t have any agenda for this weekend. When I woke up Friday morning I checked the flight load on non-stop Washington Dulles (IAD) to São Paulo (GRU). Surprisingly there were a few seats open in Polaris Business Class, so here I am!

At the Airport
After my break up with American Airlines, I’ve been flying out of IAD quite often. I’ve reviewed the Sleepbox and Turkish Airlines Lounge a few weeks ago. I visited the British Airways lounge last week but I had not had a chance to review it (I know – life has been busy!). This time around, I visited the Lufthansa Senator Lounge and Chef Geoff which can be accessed with Priority Pass membership. I will review them soon.
On the Flight
This is my first time flying United Polaris. The seats were great! I love the color scheme. Although reverse herringbone seats on American Airlines and Cathay Pacific are still one of my favorites, these Polaris seats come very close.
The service was good as well. The food met my expectations of what US airlines serve (there are things that could be improved). I will review this quick 9 hours and 50 minutes flight to South America in a separate post soon.
What to Do
Since I didn’t have any plan, I didn’t even research the things to do and see in São Paulo. But I had plenty of time at the airport, so I googled some places and save them on my Google Maps.
Where to Stay
Again, I didn’t book any hotel until 3 hours before my flight. While I was still at the Lufthansa Senator Lounge, I looked at some hotels online. I found a Junior Suite room with breakfast for $73 at Novotel São Paulo Jaraguá Conventions – Perfect!
It’s been a while since I did a last-minute, unplanned getaway. It’ll be super fun, so stay tuned!
