Sunday Brunch Episode 28: Turkish Künefe and Dondurma

I like many things when it comes to food, but when visiting Istanbul, there are a few things that are absolutely Must-Dos: Go to the Spice Bazaar and have Turkish Künefe and Dondurma. That’s exactly what we did when Mom and I traveled to Turkey.

After exploring and shopping at the market, I craved for something sweet. We stop by a place called Asi Künefeleri. We ordered künefe and dondurma.

Künefe is basically a layered filo dough pastry with cheese, soaked in syrup, and topped with crushed pistachio. In comparison, dondurma is an ice cream made of plant-based ingredients, including flowers.

Both were absolutely delicious!

Thoughts

Turkey is one of my favorite countries to visit. Frankly, I’m itching right now to make a plan for a revisit. If you can visit Istanbul, don’t forget two things: The Spice Bazaar and Turkish dessert!
