A few years ago, I found an incredible deal — a round-trip ticket from Jakarta to Sydney via Kuala Lumpur in business class for less than $1000. In the past, I mentioned that I’ve always enjoyed flying with Malaysia Airlines, and this was no exception.
In this post, I will talk about the food on the long haul segment from Kuala Lumpur to Sydney. While I’m not a fan of a red-eye flight, but for the price, I can’t complain, especially if you could snag the throne seat.
As always, similar to Singapore Airlines, the meal service started with Malaysian Satay. You can either have chicken or beef, or both. Since it was a red-eye flight, I had satay for supper and had the actual meal for breakfast.
At that time, you could pre-order the meal via a service offered for business class passengers called Chef-On-Call. It started with a small sandwich appetizer, muffin, and fresh fruit.
I ordered a beef tenderloin steak.
For dessert, I had Häagen-Dazs Vanilla & Cream ice cream.
The view during the final approach was incredible, not to mention the weather was nice and sunny.
And of course, the remote stand parking was the icing on the cake because I love walking by the massive engine upon deplaning.
Again, I’ve always had great flights with Malaysia Airlines. While the food was not over the top, but it was definitely way above the average. And for the incredibly cheap business class fare, I will not hesitate to take advantage of it again in the future.
